Competition FAQ

If you haven't competed before and you are thinking of doing so soon, its really important that you read through all of the following and understand what you need to do and expect for each competition / country.

Different countries have different registration processes and expectations from competitors therefore pre planning for this is essential.

What will happen before my first competition?

At your first competition, there are a few checks before you step onto the field:

  • Teeth check – The judge will look at your dog’s teeth to confirm they are all intact. This is done so that, if any damage occurs during the competition, there’s a clear record for comparison.

  • Testicle check (male dogs) – Male dogs will have their testicles checked to ensure both are present. Also you will need to have the paperwork with you to show this has been checked also by a vet. Get the form HERE and take it to your registered vet to complete.

  • Paperwork and equipment checks –

    • In France, you’ll need to show you have enough valid, in-date competition stickers for your level.

    • You must bring your workbook, with the temperament test section completed.

    • They may also check your KC certificate or BH certificate to confirm you have passed the required temperament test.

Once these checks are complete, you’ll be ready to compete and enjoy your first Mondioring experience.

What documents do I need to have with me at a competition?

Before competing, make sure you have the following:

  • Your workbook from the British Mondioring Association, with the temperament test section completed.

  • Veterinary certificate confirming the presence of two testicles for male dogs

  • Valid competition stickers that are in date (required if competing abroad, e.g. in France).

  • Your dog’s passport and official pedigree certificate.

  • A copy of your official temperament test certificate (e.g. KC certificate or BH certificate) to prove you have passed the required test.

Without the correct documentation the club holding the competition has the right to refuse you a competition place so we would advise that you get a folder and carry all your documentation with you to every competition.

What documents do I need to have with me at a competition?

At the end of the competition, make sure you:

  • Collect your workbook – It should be signed by an FCI judge.

  • Take home your score sheet – You are entitled to one copy.

  • Wait for the presentation – Your workbook will only be returned during the presentation at the end of the competition.

  • Stay until the end – You cannot leave before you have received your workbook back.

Staying until the presentation ensures all results are finalised and gives you the chance to support other competitors and celebrate the day’s achievements.

How do I compete in France?

To compete in France, you will need official competition stickers. These are handed to the competition organiser on the day and are used to log your Mondioring activity in France.

You must request these stickers from the French Kennel Club (Société Centrale Canine) well in advance of your first competition, as processing and postage can take a long time. You will need to pay both the application fee and postage costs.

At the bottom of the application form (linked below), you’ll find a list of what you need to bring with you. Simply complete the form, send it back to the SCC, and your stickers will be posted to you.

To compete in Belgium, you must be registered on their system as a foreign competitor.

We have created a registration template for you to fill out. You will need to send this to the club secretary when you register for the competition.

Please allow extra time for this process – the Belgian system requires additional steps to register foreign competitors, so it must be completed well in advance of the competition date.
